Born of a Podcast: The Submission Coffee Story

Every episode of The Jiu Jitsu Mindset starts the same way most training days do: with coffee. The show exists to explore how jiu jitsu lives in our lives off the mats — the discipline, the humility, the getting-comfortable-being-uncomfortable of it all — and somewhere along the way it became obvious that the thing fueling every one of those conversations deserved a name of its own.

The bean

We didn't want a white-label coffee with a sticker slapped on it. Submission Coffee is grown by the Peixoto family in Brazil — coffee with real lineage, from farmers who have put in generations of reps — and roasted fresh in Chandler, Arizona. It ships as whole beans, always. Fresh-ground coffee is simply better coffee, and our people don't mind five seconds of work for a better result. We are refined savages, after all.

The mission

From day one, Submission Coffee has been the proud sponsor of the Momentum Competition Team out of Momentum Martial Arts in Reno, Nevada — athletes who train four days a week across jiu jitsu, MMA, Muay Thai, and conditioning, then travel to test themselves. Every bag sold helps keep that team in camps and on podiums. Stronger humans for a safer world, one round and one roast at a time.

The honest bag

A note on our artwork, because we believe honesty is a grappling art: the samurai forging a blade under a blue moon is our brand art — the spirit of the thing. The bag that arrives at your door is the matte black one you see beside it in our photos, stamped by our roasting partners. What's inside is the point.

Where it's going

Today you can order a bag or subscribe monthly and never run out. Academies, gyms, and coffee shops can join the wholesale program — complete with a belt-ranked partner ladder, because of course there's a belt system. Everyone starts as a White Belt. The more you pour, the higher you climb.
